We have done our best to answer some of your most commonly asked questions below. If you have additional questions, check our Policies page or contact us!

Scheduling & Insurance

Do you take insurance or CareSource?

We do not accept insurance or CareSource so you must pay for your service upon its completion. We accept cash or credit/debit cards. We know that some people do have insurance that covers therapeutic massage and we are happy to send you a detailed receipt that you can submit for reimbursement.  Please let us know if you would like a detailed receipt when you check out.  Or, email us and we would be happy to send it to you.

Do you offer couples massage?

We don’t currently have a couples massage room, but we can schedule multiple appointments at the same time in separate rooms.

Do you have a parking lot? Where should I park?

Like many Lakewood business, we do not have a parking lot.  You can park on Madison at a metered spot.  You must feed the meters until 6pm, weekdays.  Or, you can park on Mars Ave for free.  Please DO NOT park in the Carabel Salon parking lot, as that is reserved for their customers.

What types of payments do you take?

Cash or debit/credit cards only.  We do not accept checks.

Do I have to pay sales tax on my service?

Unless you have a prescription/note from a health care practitioner, the State of Ohio requires that we charge sales tax.  If you are able to get note from your doctor, dentist, physical therapist or chiropractor, we can forgo the sales tax.

Do you accept tips?

Tipping, while completely voluntary, is greatly appreciated.  You can tip with cash or with a debit/credit card.

Are your massage therapists licensed?

Yes!  All of our massage therapists have attended accredited massage schools/programs, are licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio and are all trained in various therapeutic techniques.

I've been seeing one massage therapist but would like to try another. Is that okay?

Absolutely!  We are all very good at what we do, but we are also different in our approach, pressure, techniques.  Try everyone if you like!  No hard feelings, we promise.

I'd like to try massage but I'm uncomfortable taking off my clothes. Can I still get massage?

Yes!  We have different techniques at our disposal that allow us to work on muscle and soft tissue without the removal of  clothing and the use lotion (because lotion all over your clothes wouldn’t be good).  We even have a service called Compression and Joint Work that is geared toward those who would rather not get undressed.

Note:  if you are worried about being exposed, we promise we are adept at draping clients with sheets and that you remain covered the entire time.  We strive to maintain your modesty at all times!

I’m nervous about the way my body looks so it prevents me from getting the bodywork I need. Any suggestions?

We understand, we do.  But please believe us when we say that there is NO SUCH THING AS A PERFECT BODY and we are here to help everyone, no matter your size, shape, cellulite, amount of hair, calluses, etc.  No judgments, we promise.

Do I have to be completely undressed?

You should undress to the level you are comfortable with. For a full body massage, most get completely undressed. The therapist will work around the clothes you left on as best as they can. Your massage therapist will step out of the room to give you privacy to undress and get comfortable on the table.

Do I have to cover myself with a sheet?

In the state of Ohio draping is mandatory – it’s the law. Once you are undressed and on the table under the drape, the therapist will only uncover the part of your body being worked on. The genitals and breasts will not be uncovered.

The pressure isn't deep enough, but I don't want to complain. What should I do?

You are encouraged to openly communicate with the massage therapist about your preferences and comfort.  If anything needs to be adjusted, or if we are almost (but not quite) getting the right spot, just speak up and let us know right away!

However, it is a myth that massage therapy needs to hurt in order to be effective.  Some of the most effective techniques involve very light, gentle touch.  Often, too much pressure can cause muscles to tighten further, and detract from the effectiveness of your treatment.

What if I fall asleep, snore, or drool during my massage?

This very often happens during a massage and is nothing to be embarrassed about.  Just take it as a sign you are enjoying the relaxation!

What if I get aroused during my massage?

Arousal is a natural parasympathetic response, so don’t feel guilty. However, understand that it was not your massage therapist’s intention to arouse you. Our professional ethical code of conduct requires us to make sure boundaries are clear.  If there is a distracting technique or motion that aroused you, it is okay to tell your therapist to stop that motion.  Just to be clear, we do have a zero tolerance policy and any sexual advances, innuendo, or inappropriate touching is grounds for immediate termination of your session.

Do you like "happy ending" jokes?

Blank stare…No.  Just don’t.
