“Once you stop learning, you start dying.”
– Albert Einstein
Part of living consciously and deliberately is being open to new experiences.
We all have a choice: let our minds stagnate or continue to be challenged with new lessons and ideas.
We all know people who refuse to continue their education once their formal (state-mandated) education is done. However, life is so much more interesting when you keep learning. The benefits are many:
- Monetary: Many people need more education to stay viable in an ever-changing workforce.
- Social: Taking a class or attending a lecture exposes forces us away from our electronic screens and exposes us to new people.
- Intellectual: Learning new things opens your mind.
Study a new language, take a painting class, learn to tap dance, go to lectures at the art museum, study woodworking, learn to bake.
And if you are tempted to say “Oh, I’ll be 75 before I’m any good at it,” remember that you will be 75 years old someday anyway.
